Every year I say to myself “I won’t leave my Tax Return until the last minute this year. I will do it as soon as I get my P60 and my P11D”. Then, of course, it gets forgotten about and I suddenly have a mad panic on the 30th January to try and find the documents and my log in details! Then after I’ve done it I say “Next year…..”

So this morning I was quite pleased when I opened a letter from the Inland Revenue (or whatever they call themselves this year!) and instead of the demand for the £3.60 my return said I owed it was a letter informing me that from now on I don’t need to fill in a return any more.

Well I suppose that’s one less thing to worry about!
