Results Day
kevin | August 20, 2009 | 9:08 amToday my eldest daughter gets her A level results (and the other one gets her AS results) so I’ve been thinking about that day when I sat waiting for mine. I’d gone to college rather than 6th form and the results were sent out in the post. At stake was a place at Salford University where I hoped to study Physics.
After what seemed like an eternity the post man came into view and slowly made his way up the street. With every delivery he got closer and closer, eventually he got to number 37, our next door neighbour and as I stood holding my breath he paused looked at the letter in his hand and went back down the road to deliver one he had missed to number 13!
Eventually the letter was in my hands and I took a deep breath and opened it. I pulled out the slip and tried hard to focus on the words but they were all dancing about and appeared to be written in some strange hieroglyphics! Eventually I managed to focus my eyes enough to work out what it said and I saw I had got exactly the right grades. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry so promptly did both!
