Mark Germino – Mean Fiddler Acoustic Room, London 19th April 1989

I first heard of Mark Germino when the late Roger Scott played his song Rex Bob Lowenstein on his Saturday afternoon show on Radio 1 – I bought the Caught In The Act Of Being Ourselves album and really liked it so I was happy to find out he was going to be doing a gig in London even if I had to trek all the way to the Mean Fiddler for it. The gig was in a tiny room upstairs that only held a couple of hundred people at most. I don’t have a ticket that I can find so it might have we just paid the £4 entry charge on the door. We got there quite early and were sat quite near the front. He was solo just singing with an acoustic guitar. I’m pretty sure he played the whole album! I certainly remember the title track because it mentions my birthday in it!
