After a few nights working in Budapest we finally had some time off so I decided to go and do a bit of sightseeing and find the famous bridge – when I did find it the lights weren’t on which was disappointing but just as I walked away they came back on…
Then afterwards I made my way to the Budapest Jazz club where I caught Marton Fenyvesi’s egotrip who were very good. I’d been looking for somewhere to go and found a jazz club on the internet and there were two interesting looking nights today and tomorrow. I’d printed out a map and used this to navigate from the bridge to the club. I went into a large building and asked the chap on reception if I could pay on the door. He seemed quite bemused by this and when I got in I discovered why – there were only about 30-40 people there. I bought a beer and went and sat down.
The band were already playing what turned out to be their first set. I quite liked the sound that they made and they did some interesting covers like Nirvana’s Come as you are and a song by the Police.
