The Australian Doors – Powerhaus, Islington 18th February 1992

These were probably one of the first tribute bands to do the rounds but as I was too young to have seen the originals (Jim died when I was 9) I was keen to go. My then wife was also a big Doors fan so she was keen too. The Powerhaus, if I recall correctly, was an old pub converted to a music venue up on (or just off) Islington High Street – think I only went there twice!

One of the things that I remember about this gig was that my wife was pregnant at the time. If I recall correctly the band did two sets and during the break I went to the loo and when I came out she was nowhere to be seen. Then the front door of the club opened and I saw her outside. This worried me as the sign on the door said there were no passouts allowed. However the doorman smiled and let her back in, she had played the I’m pregnant and I need some air card!

I found this set list from later in 1992 which gives and idea of what they played (a load of Doors songs basically!)

Riders on the Storm
Soul
People Are Strange
Love Street
Five to One
Land Ho!
Moonlight Drive
